Gallopin effort bemuses O'Brien

Trainer Danny O'Brien was still scratching his head on Monday over Gallopin's shock first-up failure at Caulfield on Saturday.
Sent out a $2.10 favourite in a 1600m handicap on Saturday, Gallopin finished a disappointing eighth, 8.2 lengths behind the winner Light Vision.
"He was ordinary," O'Brien said.
The trainer dismissed the slow track as an excuse for his failure.
Gallopin, who strung together four wins on the trot last summer, will have his next run in a 1700m race at Flemington on September 6.
O'Brien said stablemate Alexander Of Hales, who was scratched from the Liston, will resume in the Group Two Memsie Stakes where he will take on Weekend Hussler.
"(He was) just off his feed a bit but he's right now," O'Brien said.
Trainer David Hayes said VRC Derby winner Kibbutz would have his next start in the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) after his seventh in the Liston.
"He was a bit outpaced, found it all too sharp. Still a bit disappointing but he was a bit green," Hayes said.
The Makybe Diva Stakes will also be Liston winner Light Fantastic's next start.
