Good track expected for Doomben

Good track expected for Doomben

16/05/2008 10:34:40 AM

The track at Doomben is likely to be rated good for Saturday's Doomben Cup meeting, BTC track manager Warren Williams said on Friday.

The penetrometer reading on Friday morning was 4.95, which was 'still in the dead but very close to good' range, Williams said.

"Depending on what happens this afternoon, if we don't get any rain it will definitely be a good track," Williams said.

A thunderstorm has been predicted for Saturday but Williams was confident it would not adversely affect the track.

"It's rare for this time of year. It will be a hit and miss thunderstorm, not widespread," Williams said.

The rail will be out two metres after being in the true position last Saturday.
