Lush Lashes takes out Stakes

Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning combined to plunder another high-profile Group One in Britain as Lush Lashes powered home in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The pair, who teamed up to win the Derby at Epsom with New Approach, were sporting big smiles after the daughter of Galileo fought off the respective challenges of Infallible and Carribean Sunset.

Set alight inside the distance, 5-1 chance Lush Lashes passed the post with three-and-a-quarter lengths to spare.

Bolger said: "I've been very impressed with her but I didn't think she could win in that style."

"She had the Goffs (Fillies) Million won with a furlong to run and that is only seven furlongs, so she's always shown plenty of pace."

Manning added: "She travelled very well and we were in a lovely position all the way."

"She makes the job very easy."

Bolger and Manning had already hit the target on day four of the meeting as 8-11 chance Cuis Ghaire saw off Penny's Gift in the opening Albany Stakes.

Godolphin have endured a disappointing run by their high standards but Campanologist provided some cheer when he benefited from an excellent Frankie Dettori ride to land the King Edward VII Stakes.

Sent off at 9-1, he dictated a steady pace before Dettori kicked on at the right time, the popular Italian keeping just enough up his sleeve to repel the late charge of 11-4 favourite Conduit.

Hughie Morrison's Supaseus (12-1) gave Steve Drowne his third winner of the meeting in the Wolferton Handicap, while Patkai proved a cut above in the Queen's Vase.

Sir Michael Stoute's 6-4 favourite gave Ryan Moore an armchair ride before quickening seven lengths clear of Amerigo, while Regal Parade (25-1) rounded proceedings off by claiming top honours in the concluding Buckingham Palace Stakes.
