The race for the NRL minor premiership remains wide open after the Sydney Roosters re-entered the fight with an emphatic 34-12 win over leaders Manly at a rain-soaked Sydney Football Stadium.
With the competition's top three sides - Manly, Melbourne and Cronulla - all suffering round 20 defeats, top position on the ladder remains up for grabs with six rounds left.
The Sea Eagles (30) lead the way from the Roosters, Storm and the Sharks - all on 28.
The Roosters, coming off back-to-back losses, began brilliantly against an injury-weakened Manly before 22,681 fans, scoring three tries inside the first 12 minutes to take an 18-0 lead.
Centre Mitchell Aubusson got the home side going with a four-pointer after just four minutes.
Brett Stewart's clearing kick cannoned into Craig Fitzgibbon's back and Mitchell Pearce won the race to the ball, kneeing then kicking the ball forward for Aubusson to ground it in the in-goal.
Shaun Kenny-Dowall grabbed the Roosters' second just three minutes later, finishing off out wide after the ball was kept alive through Anthony Cherrington, Braith Anasta and Sia Soliola.
When Amos Roberts plucked a dropped ball from Steve Menzies out of the air, fended away Brett Stewart and ran 45m to score, the Roosters were headed to a stunning 18-0 advantage after just 12 minutes.
A shellshocked Manly needed something out of the ordinary to get itself back in the contest and unfashionable winger Michael Robertson provided the spark.
The Scottish international went on a weaving 40m run and was on hand two plays later to cross out wide from a Stewart pass.
Makeshift kicker Steve Matai nailed the sideline conversion and the Sea Eagles trailed 18-6 after 22 minutes.
Soliola restored his side's 18-point advantage in the 31st minute, Anthony Tupou providing a lovely short ball for the big centre to crash over.
With heavy rain falling to open the second half, fans were treated to a carbon copy of the try eight minutes in.
Menzies, lurking out wide, came under pressure from Roberts and dropped the ball for the Roosters fullback to scoop up, fend off Stewart and win an 80m race to the line.
Craig Fitzgibbon's conversion missed the mark but the hosts were well on top at 28-6.
Stewart gave the Sea Eagles a sniff when he fielded an Anasta grubber under his goalposts and out-sprinted the defence to complete a length-of-the-field try just before the hour.
Roosters winger Sam Perrett finished it off with a try three minutes from the end.
In scenes not seen on a rugby league ground for years, the game finished with the crowd pouring onto the field to greet the players.
