NSW skipper rues wasted chances

New South Wales skipper Danny Buderus was left to lament his team's inability to score enough points in the decisive State of Origin match on Wednesday night at ANZ Stadium.
Buderus - who bows out of the Origin arena after 21 caps for the Blues - said NSW, in losing its third consecutive series to Queensland, didn't take advantage of scoring opportunities late in Game 3.
"We probably had our chances down the back stretch there," Buderus told Channel Nine after the game.
"You gotta give it to Queensland. They've got some freakish talent, as you saw Israel Folau (who scored two impressive tries from kicks), you pretty much can't stop that sort of stuff mate."
With the curtain now fallen on his Origin career, the 30-year-old was hard-pressed to single out a particularly memorable moment in his time with the Blues.
"Every time you run out here it's a moment," said Buderus.
"But I'm gonna enjoy this, obviously it's at the wrong end of the scale but I'm gonna enjoy the moment, it's a time for reflection I guess."
Queensland captain Cameron Smith was full of praise for Buderus and his contribution to State of Origin over the years.
"Danny's a great competitor and I think he typifies what Origin footy's about," the Melbourne hooker said.
"He just plays his all every time he comes on the field and, you know, he's gonna go down as one of the best rugby league players ever."
