Bonds seeks dismissal

Barry Bonds has filed court papers in San Francisco seeking to dismiss much of the superseding indictment returned against him, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
According to the newspaper, Bonds' defence team maintains that 10 of the 15 charges are so legally flawed that they must be thrown out of court.
The indictment, which was filed in May, added 10 more counts - including obstruction of justice - to the original four filed against Bonds in November.
The original indictment stemmed from a 2003 grand-jury testimony in which the slugger denied knowingly taking illegal performance-enhancing drugs.
The new indictment was issued on February 29 in response to a prior ruling by US District Judge Susan Illston, who agreed with a defence motion that the initial indictment was potentially vague and ambiguous.
The Mercury News reported that federal prosecutors are expected to respond to Bonds' latest legal move next month.
A free agent, Bonds has drawn little interest from teams and is set to go to trial in March.
