Asafa Powell has romped to victory in the 100 metres at the Rieti Grand Prix - but failed to break the world record.
Powell, who set a new world mark at the Italian meeting 12 months ago only to see it smashed by fellow Jamaican Usain Bolt at the Beijing Olympics - came home first in a time of 9.82 seconds.
He ran faster in his semi-final, clocking 9.77sec, but was still outside Bolt's record-breaking effort of 9.69sec.
Bolt also beat Powell in their latest match-up in Brussels on Friday night.
Bolt ran 9.77sec and Powell 9.83sec on a wet night in Belgium.
