Assistant coach Jim Williams has labelled week one of the Wallabies' preparation for their upcoming six-match spring tour an unqualified success.
This week's four-day camp held in Sydney signalled the first real opportunity for head coach Robbie Deans to work with his men without the added pressure of preparing for a Test match.
The players were put through their paces in a series of non-contact sessions designed to build up their core skills and execution under duress.
And after an in-depth review of the domestic season, which saw the side win six of nine Tests under the new coaching regime, Williams is confident the squad is on track ahead of next month's tour opener against the All Blacks in Hong Kong.
"We had a good chat about (the domestic campaign) when we first came into camp on the Monday night and sorted out a few things, changed a few policies and methods just to make sure everyone understood it," he said.
"And we've been pushing forward with it and everyone's really bought into it so it's been excellent."
Williams said the inclusion of teenage sensation James O'Connor, flanker David Pocock, flyhalf Quade Cooper and prop Sekope Kepu had helped breathe new life into the camp.
"They've relished the opportunity, been working very hard and are very enthusiastic and it just brings a bit of life into the squad," he said.
"Not that it wasn't already there but (with a bit of) new blood and some young guys coming through, there's always a good vibe about the squad and it keeps lifting and building and that's what you want."
He said the youngsters had been anything but overawed by their new surroundings or team-mates.
"Everyone's got the same voice, they're certainly not encouraged to sit back and Robbie (head coach Robbie Deans) wouldn't let them," Williams said.
"They've been asking questions and they've got a chance to voice and say what they like and give an opinion."
"And that's what the whole squad's about, it's a whole squad system and they're certainly taking part very well."
Lote Tuqiri (knee) sat out Thursday's gruelling one-hour session in searing temperatures while the remainder of the squad completed ball-work and anaerobic drills.
The squad will now enjoy a three-day break before reassembling for the second of four lead-up camps in Sydney on Monday.
