Jelena Jankovic won her second title in as many weeks on Sunday with a 6-4 6-3 triumph over Nadia Petrova in the final of the Porsche Grand Prix.
A winner in Beijing last week, the 23-year-old Serb captured her third title of the year and eighth overall.
It marks a double celebration for Jankovic, who will also replace Serena Williams at the top of the world rankings on Monday.
Jankovic, who was set to become the new number one whatever the outcome of Sunday's match, enjoyed an 81 per cent first serve and converted four break points in the 83-minute match.
She beat Petrova for the fourth time in succession and improved to 6-2 all-time against the Russian.
The 26-year Petrova was seeking her second title of the year.
Despite coming up short, the Russian has still reached the semi-final stage in four of her last five tournaments.
Sorana Cirstea, meanwhile, claimed her first WTA singles title on Sunday with a battling win over Germany's Sabine Lisicki in the final of the Tashkent Open.
The third seed from Romania was outplayed in the opening set, but hit back to post a 2-6 6-4 7-6 (7-4) result against fourth-seeded Lisicki.
It was the first meeting between the two teenagers and the second appearance in a final for Cirstea, who also reached the title match in Budapest last year.
