Argentina's Davis Cup captain Alberto Mancini is aiming to guide his team to 'one of the biggest sporting achievements in the country's history' at the weekend.
The South Americans take on Spain in the final in Mar del Plata with the hosts looking to win the event for the first time after finishing as runners-up in 1981 and 2006.
Mancini is under no illusions as to the importance of the encounter and is hoping home advantage will prove decisive this time round.
"It is the most important event in my sporting career," he told La Nacion newspaper.
"Things will be very different if we win the Davis Cup. We are aware of that and we are very close to achieving it."
"A Davis Cup victory would be one of the biggest sporting achievements in Argentina's history."
The hosts' chances of victory have improved significantly with the news Spanish world No.1 Rafael Nadal has pulled out due to tendinitis in his right knee.
But Mancini is certain his side will not suffer from over-confidence.
"We mustn't relax and think the tie is going to be easier," he said.
"Even though (David) Ferrer's form is not the best, he is very experienced. Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco are also dangerous players."
"Obviously, the match has tipped in our favour because of Nadal's absence but it will still not be easy."
"We must be careful and respect our opponent."
David Nalbandian and Juan Martin Del Potro are set to play in Friday's singles although the make-up of Argentina's team for Saturday's doubles is not yet clear.
Nalbandian may be involved, fitness permitting, alongside either Agustin Calleri or Jose Acasuso.
Mancini said: "There are some decisions you must make that are not easy."
"We take a lot of things into account, a lot of factors and the objective opinions of the technical staff."
Spain has replaced Nadal with world No.56 Marcel Granollers, who will make his Davis Cup debut if selected this weekend.
