Branko Culina has had under two months ahead of the 2009/10 season to get used to his position as coach of the Newcastle Jets after Gary Van Egmond's sudden departure in June. But he won’t waste time finding his feet having had a long managerial career which includes stints in charge of NSL clubs Melbourne Knights, Sydney United, Canberra Cosmos and Sydney Olympic. His most recent coaching stint came in charge of Sydney FC in the 2007-08 season, but ended just nine games into the season. He arrived as technical director at the Jets in January and after six months in the job has been given another chance to coach with van Egmond's departure.
