Los Angeles Galaxy coach Frank Yallop has reportedly resigned from the Major League Soccer club after two years in charge.

The Galaxy endured a disappointing season in 2007 despite the arrival of England midfielder David Beckham.

According to a report by the San Jose Mercury News on Sunday, Yallop has left the club to return to San Jose and coach the Earthquakes.

The Earthquakes, set to return to Major League Soccer in 2008, signed Yallop to a three-year contract after acquiring his rights from the Los Angeles Galaxy, his new club's general manager told the newspaper.

Yallop coached the Earthquakes from 2001-03, winning Major League Soccer titles in his first and third seasons.

He left the Quakes to become Canada's national team coach, then was hired by the Galaxy in 2006.
