Benitez to swoop in summer market

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez wants to move swiftly in the transfer market this summer to start shaping a squad capable of sustaining an English Premier League title challenge.

Benitez's side had little to play for ahead of Sunday's2-0 win at Tottenham, with fourth place already assured and no cup final to look forward to for the first time in three campaigns.

Rather than waiting until next season approaches, the Spaniard has drawn up his targets and will act quickly.

"We are working hard to improve the squad," he said. "Throughout the whole season, we are watching players and trying to sign the players we need."

"We want to sign the best players as soon as possible and I think we will get investment from the owners, so we can go forward."
