Sydney FC coach Vitezslav Lavicka has backed his side's character, saying the Sky Blues will respond emphatically to losing two matches in a row.
Having been beaten by Gold Coast United just before the FIFA break, Sydney found itself on the wrong end of a 2-0 result at Perth's ME Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The visitors may have dominated the first half against a Glory side forced into several positional changes by suspension and injury, but they failed to make those early chances count and were made to pay when Scott Bullock and Branko Jelic netted second-half goals for the Glory.
Lavicka, though, believes his side will respond in style when it hosts New South Wales rival Newcastle at the SFS next Sunday.
"Every good team is able to show character when they lose a game," Lavicka said.
"Now we have the chance to do that next week."
"You have a look at our change room, every player is disappointed of course, but we need to pick up our confidence and show ourselves that we are a team that's able to play well next game."
"Against Newcastle, I trust the players that we pick will play better than today."
Lavicka also backed John Aloisi to return to his best form, despite the striker missing two late chances to continue a barren run against the Perth side.
In December last year, Aloisi endured one of the toughest days of his glittering career as nothing whatsoever fell for him in a 4-1 home loss to Perth.
Coming on as a substitute in this clash with the score at 1-0 after Scott Bulloch had given Perth a 57th-minute lead, Aloisi saw a difficult glancing header go wide of the upright before missing a gilt-edged chance in the 84th minute.
Glory stopper Tando Velaphi had gone to ground after colliding with team-mate Andy Todd as the ball fell perfectly for Aloisi to volley into an unguarded goal. But the former Qantas Socceroo fired over the bar, allowing the Glory to take the ball up the other end four minutes later, with Jelic sealing the result.
Aloisi, though, hasn't started in the Sky Blues team since returning from injury in Round 10, but Lavicka said the striker was fully fit and he expected big things from him over the rest of the season, having seen him score four goals so far.
"Johnny is an important player for us," Lavicka said.
"He's experienced but his problem is, (he's) a little bit fragile with injury."
"He (had to) start again from the bottom and it's difficult but he is a good guy and he's able to help us in the next few games of the season."
