Norman to play Australian Open

29/06/2009 9:47 AM

Australian golfing legend Greg Norman has committed to playing in this year's Australian Open at the NSW Golf Club.

A five-time winner of the Stonehaven Cup, Norman will play the next three Australian Opens.

At 54, Norman is still Australia's best-known golfer and will prove a massive drawcard.

This year's Australian Open will be held on December 3-6 at the NSW Golf Club, where 'The Shark' is a member.

"I look forward to returning to Sydney to play the Australian Open this December," Norman said on Monday.

"I am particularly pleased that Golf Australia has selected the NSW Golf Club as the venue. Not only is the venue a favourite amongst the players, it will provide an excellent backdrop for showcasing Sydney and NSW as an extraordinary golf destination."

Golf Australia officials have also announced the Australian Open will be held in Sydney until 2015.
