Bullet fires at Ascot

21/11/2009 7:45 PM

Sniper's Bullet has claimed the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) for trainer Tracey Bartley, making up for last year's disappointment at Perth's Ascot racecourse.

In 2008, the six-year-old gelding was edged out by the now departed Gilded Venom, but jockey Nash Rawiller made no mistakes this time around as Sniper's Bullet won his first race since the 2007 Stradbroke Handicap.

The result sees Sniper's Bullet increase his overall prize money beyond the $2 million dollar mark via his seventh win from 33 starts.

Rawiller led Sniper's Bullet away from his wide gate early in the race and was sitting outside early leader Keytomoney until rounding the final turn.

Straightening up Rawiller's charge had far too much pace for Tarzi and Colour Correct.
