Hussler heads Memsie nominations

Hussler heads Memsie nominations

25/08/2008 5:19 PM

Superstar galloper Weekend Hussler was the headline act when nominations closed for this Saturday's G2 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

The Ross McDonald-trained four-year-old, beaten last start over the same course and distance in the Liston Stakes, is likely to have to beat a bumper field in the Memsie after 31 horses were entered for the race on Monday.

Among the entries were glamour Sydney mare Tuesday's Joy, comeback galloper Pompeii Ruler, Maldivian and other Group One winners including Sirmione, Casual Pass, Rubiscent and Sarrera.

Melbourne Cup winner Efficient was also nominated but is likely to kick off his spring in the G2 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington the following week.

The Memsie has a capacity field of 13 plus four emergencies meaning several horses will miss out on a run.

Sprint queen Miss Andretti has been nominated for a Listed race, The Heath 1100, after missing last Saturday's McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley due to a wet track.
