Melbourne Storm superstar Greg Inglis has been ruled out of next week's inaugural All Stars match after losing his race to be fit.

Inglis is unable to play due to a hip injury that has plagued him throughout the Storm's pre-season campaign.

"I'm extremely disappointed," Inglis declared.

"I did everything I possibly could to get my body right but unfortunately it just didn't respond."

"It's going to be an historic occasion and I'm sure the boys will still put on a show without me."

Inglis will be replaced in the Indigenous All Stars team by South Sydney's Beau Champion, while Greg Bird will come in for the injured Daine Laurie.

Meanwhile, the NRL All Stars have added English Test star Sam Burgess to their squad after they lost Gareth Ellis, Alan Tongue and David Taylor due to injury on Thursday.

Wests Tigers' Robbie Farah and Canberra's David Shillington have also been added to the squad.
