The Sydney Roosters will treat Saturday night's trial against Wests Tigers as a full-scale premiership match after going 'missing' in a dreadful first-up display against St George Illawarra.
The Dragons thumped a listless Sydney side 54-6 in Perth last weekend, casting doubts on the Roosters' mental toughness and commitment.
Coach Brad Fittler made no secret of his disappointment and has demanded a lift in intensity when the Foundation Cup goes on the line against Wests at the SFS.
"Saints came out with a lot better attitude than we did," Fittler said.
"We went out like it was a trial match and really didn't get much out of it."
"I thought our attitude was a tad down (and) I don't think you should ever lose going out there with a good attitude."
"The boys will learn something out of it. We've got to practice the art of playing tough and practice the art of winning a game."
Skipper Braith Anasta admitted his side's display against the Dragons was a worrying sign four weeks out from the season kick-off.
With frontline troops Mark O'Meley, Anthony Minichiello and Craig Fitzgibbon back on Saturday night, he expects a much stronger showing.
"After last week we were disappointed. We went into that first trial negative and St George (Illawarra) came out pretty fired up and took it more serious than us, which was pretty poor (on our part)," Anasta said.
"That's what makes this game (against the Tigers) more important for us. We've got to make sure we improve on that last performance."
"My responsibility for this game is to try and get my team back on track and make sure we get some confidence and some good football under our belt before we play the first game."
The Tigers, who have lost both previous Foundation Cup matches, are also keen to make an impression in their first hit-out of the year.
The joint venture club has chosen close to its strongest line-up, with hooker and captain Robbie Farah a chance to make an appearance despite not being named in the team.
"You've got to prepare your best for any game, whether it's a trial match or not," star half-back Benji Marshall said.
"You don't want to go into any game half-hearted … that's when you do get injured, when you're trying to protect yourself."
"We want to get some form and confidence up before the season starts so the best way to do that is play well in the trials."
