White right to go

White right to go

Melbourne enforcer Brett White is adamant his injured shoulder can withstand the rigours of the upcoming Four Nations tournament, insisting he'll travel to London with the squad on Friday.

White, fresh from convincing his fiance Cassie Adland to postpone their wedding which was to be held 24 hours after the squad departs, consulted a specialist last week who delivered more favourable news.

The 27-year-old faces the prospect of a partial shoulder reconstruction when the squad returns later this month, but is expected to be given the green light by Kangaroos medical staff on Tuesday.

"I spoke to the shoulder specialist last week and he's got no concerns at all," a relieved White said.

"Obviously if I need anything done when I get back I'll get that done but we'll reassess that after the tour, but there's no problems as far as the shoulder is concerned."

"He's totally happy for me to go and he doesn't think it's going to be any worse by playing over there, so it's a great relief and very happy to be here."

White, a regular for NSW over the past three seasons, concedes the opportunity to tour alongside some of his Queensland counterparts such as Petero Civoniceva was simply too good to pass up.

"It's a lifetime experience, I've heard former player talk about tours and that and it's just an ideal thing to be able to go away with ... some of the players that are upstairs are amazing," he said.

"Being able to play a game alongside blokes like Petero and hopefully learn things from him will be an experience I'm certainly looking forward to enjoying."

The premiership-winning prop admits he's still coming to terms with his selection after a difficult start to 2009.

"It was a bit of a slow start but it's been building up which is a very positive thing," he said.

"At the start of the year I didn't know what was in front of me, I didn't know where anything was going so to be standing here today is just such a great thing."

"To have injuries and work through them and come out better from it's a real positive thing."

Meanwhile, Newcastle utility Kurt Gidley says he has overcome a calf injury and is ready to take his place on the tour.

"I'm fine, I did the full session last Wednesday and then the same session on the Sunday in Newcastle just with a couple of mates so feeling good and excited about the tour," Gidley said.

The NSW skipper also expects Nathan Hindmarsh (shoulder) and prop Ben Hannant (elbow) will be cleared to travel after Tuesday's fitness session.

"I was always confident (of recovering) and I think the other boys are the same," he said.

"It's a tour that everyone wants to be on and I'm pretty sure everyone's fit and ready to go."

The Kangaroos open their Four Nations campaign against the world champion Kiwis in London on October 24, with clashes against England and France to follow in consecutive weeks.
