Holden driver Lee Holdsworth will start from pole for Sunday's final V8 Supercar race of the season at the Sydney 500.
In an exciting finish to qualifying, Holdsworth waited until the final lap of the 20-minute session to clock a record one minute 29.305 seconds – clinching first place on the grid for the afternoon's 250km race.
Ford's James Courtney (1:29.4040) – whose race on Saturday was blighted by a door that kept popping open - and Holden's Rick Kelly (1:29.4306) were second- and third-fastest respectively.
Mark Winterbottom will start from fourth on the grid while Greg Murphy in a Commodore rounds out the top five.
Garth Tander, who took out Saturday's race one at Sydney's Olympic Park, will start from seventh.
Jamie Whincup, who clinched his second consecutive V8 Supercar title after finishing in fifth place on Saturday, suffered car trouble and will begin from 26th spot.
