Kubica wants 'home' support

Kubica wants 'home' support

29/07/2010 8:20 PM

Polish driver Robert Kubica is hopeful of the crowd's backing in this weekend's Formula One Grand Prix in Budapest.

Budapest is usually flooded with Poles on race weekend and the support is something Kubica thrives on.

"I'm really looking forward to the weekend. We usually see a lot of Polish fans coming to Budapest, so it's sort of a home grand prix for me and for the Polish fans," Kubica said.

"I am expecting a lot of people to come, and a good atmosphere from the crowd, so we are hoping that we can put in a good performance for them."

Kubica posted an impressive result at last weekend's German GP at Hockenheim, finishing in seventh position ahead of Mercedes drivers Michael Schumacher and Niko Rosberg and the Pole is hoping to go even better this weekend in Hungary.

"I think it (Hungaroring) will be a more suitable track for our car and I hope we can be closer to the front than we were in Germany," he said.

Kubica described the Hungaroring circuit as 'demanding physically and mentally' and spoke about the concentration levels required to do well in Budapest.

Kubica is seventh on the overall drivers' standings but can leapfrog Rosberg in sixth with a good result in front of his adopted home crowd this weekend.
