Perfect Saints maintain run

The New Orleans Saints remain unbeaten after six games following a stirring comeback from 21 points down to beat the Miami Dolphins 46-34.

The Saints trailed 24-3 nine minutes before half-time but quarterback Drew Brees ran over from one yard for a touchdown and the extra kicked point left New Orleans trailing the Dolphins 24-10 at the main break.

The second half was all New Orleans, though, as the visitors outscored Miami by five touchdowns to one, Brees rushing for one more and throwing a touchdown pass to Marques Colston after Darren Sharper started the scoring with a 42-yard interception return touchdown.

The Saints now stand at 6-0 after sending the Dolphins to 2-4.

After three straight defeats, the New York Jets returned to winning ways with a convincing win at the Oakland Raiders. The Jets moved to 4-3 and sent the Raiders to 2-5 in a 38-0 trouncing of the Bay Area team, with rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez throwing one touchdown pass and first-year running back Shonn Greene rushing for two touchdowns and 144 yards in his first 100-yard game.

The Chicago Bears had a fruitless trip to Cincinnati, losing 45-10 as the Bengals moved to 5-2, the visitors slipping to 3-3 for the year. Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer was the star of the show, throwing five touchdown passes, two for Chad Ochocinco, and completing 20 of 24 passes for 233 yards.

The Bears, four days after handing new quarterback Jay Cutler a contract extension, were also outrushed 215 yards to 35 with former player Cedric Benson gaining a career-high 189 yards and scoring one touchdown.

The Dallas Cowboys brought the Atlanta Falcons' two-game winning streak to an end with a 37-21 win in Texas at Cowboys Stadium. Quarterback Tony Romo threw three touchdowns and 311 yards but a 73-yard punt return touchdown from Patrick Crayton midway through the fourth quarter secured the victory that moved Dallas to a 4-2 record, the same as Atlanta.

The Buffalo Bills won their second game in a row and moved within a game of an even record with a 20-9 win at the Carolina Panthers. The Bills moved to 3-4 with the victory while the Panthers slipped to 2-4, quarterback Jack Delhomme having seen three passes intercepted.

In the late game, former New York Giants quarterback Kurt Warner got one over his protege Eli Manning as the Arizona Cardinals handed the Big Apple side their first home defeat of the season and their second loss in as many weeks.

The Giants had started the season 5-0 but lost 48-27 last week at the undefeated New Orleans Saints.

This time around they turned the ball over four times to last season's Super Bowl runners-up as the NFC champion Cardinals won 24-17 at Giants Stadium, the visitors scoring two unanswered touchdowns in the second half to post their third straight road win.

New York opened the scoring in the second quarter when Brandon Jacobs rushed for a touchdown from four yards out only for Beanie Wells to respond in kind from 13 yards.

Manning connected with rookie wide receiver Hakeem Nicks for the second Giants touchdown but Neil Rackers kicked a field goal to keep Arizona in touch at 14-10 at the half and from there the Cardinals pushed on for victory.

Running back Tim Hightower rushed from a yard out and wide receiver Jason Wright caught a short Warner pass to put the game beyond the Giants in the third quarter. The home side's only answer was a fourth-quarter field goal from Scottish-born Lawrence Tynes as Arizona moved to 4-2 for the season.
