Floors eyes Stormers move

Floors eyes Stormers move

11/05/2008 10:45 PM

South Africa Sevens star Kabamba Floors has expressed his wish to play for the Stormers and Western Province next season.

Floors, who is part of the Springboks Sevens team which will face England in its pool at the London Sevens in a fortnight's time, has now turned his back on the Cheetahs because of the lack of playing time he has received.

The peroxide dreadlocked flanker had a public fallout with Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske last month and told Afrikaans Sunday newspaper Sondag he would be looking to move to the Cape soon.

Floors claims his career is on a dead end street, and that the Cheetahs are not giving him enough opportunities.

"I have heard nothing yet from Rassie Erasmus (Stormers coach), but I wouldn't refuse it if he offered me a contract to move to Cape Town," Floors told Sondag.

"I am from the Southern Cape and I have always been a Western Province supporter with the atmosphere that they have there at Newlands. I would be dumb to say no to a good offer."

"At the moment I am not getting the opportunities in the Super 14 at the Cheetahs and I decided that I'm wasting my time sitting on the bench."

Floors is now with the Springbok Sevens team preparing for London and Scotland legs of the IRB Sevens.

"I have now decided to focus my attention on Sevens and wait to see if I get any offers from a bigger union," he added.

"It would be ideal to play rugby for Province because the Sevens team is also based in Stellenbosch."
