Michael Cheika has warned Australia they will have to raise their game to another level when they face England in the Rugby World Cup, despite Sunday's 65-3 win over Uruguay.

A much-changed Wallabies XV were hungry for tries in the Pool A match at Villa Park, and they took advantage of Uruguay's inexperience to score 11 times in the bonus-point win.

Next up for Cheika's side is a clash with the wounded hosts at Twickenham, and the coach knows they must keep pushing to improve to avoid defeat.

"We are going to have to improve on the first two matches to be able to compete with England," he said. "England are the home team and they are going to be the favourites.

"[But] I don't think I'm in the right position to be offering any sort of critique on any team other than my own.

"There's a few players that definitely put their hand up for selection [today]. There were little particular areas that I wanted the players to work on.

"We will go back, take the time to look through the film and just make some assessments about our selection going forward."

Cheika also confirmed he will assess video footage of Quade Cooper's yellow card for a high tackle on Agustin Ormaechea before deciding whether to appeal.

He added: "I'm pretty sure there is an appeals process around yellow cards and we will appeal that yellow card.

"We felt that the hit was across the shoulder and that there was no intent to do any harm. I understand where the refs are coming from too.

"We will only do it if we think it is the right thing to do."
