World No.10 Robin Soderling eased through to the quarter-finals of the Stockholm Open to enhance his prospects of a place at the ATP World Tour finals.
The No.1 seed, who lies ninth in the year to date standings, beat Italian Andreas Seppi 6-1 6-3 and will meet Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in Friday's last-eight bout.
Second seed Tommy Haas of Germany withdrew with flu to the benefit of Finland's Jarkko Nieminen.
Eighth seed Feliciano Lopez was beaten 4-6 6-4 6-1 by Belgian Olivier Rochus, while Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus defeated American Robert Kendrick 6-2 6-2.
Qualifier Arnaud Clement also reached the last eight with a 3-6 7-6 (9-7) 6-1 win over Germany's Michael Berrer.
Meanwhile, in Moscow, Janko Tipsarevic, the sixth seed, progressed after Belgium's Christophe Rochus retired with the Serbian leading 6-4 2-1 in their second round clash.
The United States' Robby Ginepri defeated Spain's Marcel Granollers 7-6 (7-5) 6-0, Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin was a 6-3 6-4 winner over the United States' Wayne Odesnik and Ukraine's Iliya Marchenko beat Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev 6-1 1-6 6-4.
