Stosur bows out

Second seed Samantha Stosur has fallen to Spaniard Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in the quarter finals of the Tournament of Champions in Bali.

Sanchez will play France's Aravane Rezai in the semi-finals following a 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 win over the Australian.

Top seed Marion Bartoli produced a convincing performance to beat Israel's Shahar Peer and secure her place in the semi-finals.

Frenchwoman Bartoli took 76 minutes to defeat Peer 6-3 6-2 and set up a clash with Kimiko Date Krumm of Japan tomorrow for a place in the final.

Date Krumm progressed to the last four after US Open semi-finalist Yanina Wickmayer withdrew from the tournament following the news of her one-year ban for missing doping tests.

The world No.18 was suspended on Friday by the Flemish Doping Tribunal after failing to declare her whereabouts on three occasions.

First alternate Vera Dushevina of Russia took Wickmayer's place in the draw and defeated Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues 2-6 6-1 7-5, but Date Krumm's place in the last four was already confirmed.
