Armageddon Preview: Devolution

Since Randy Orton’s return to Raw, he and Batista have actively tried to one-up each other, with much of their enmity spinning out of the desire to be recognized as the top competitor on the program.

Though they have faced one another in Triple Threat and Elimination contents, at Armageddon these two dominant ring warriors will attempt to settle the score one-on-one in their first pay-per-view singles match since their days together in Evolution.

At Survivor Series, the Superstars were captains of opposing teams in a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match. Though The Animal showed his primal fury and rage, making liberal use of his Batista Bomb, it was the crafty Randy Orton that stole the win with a well-timed RKO to his opposing captain. Following the win, the Legend Killer was given a space in a No. 1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match, in which his involvement prevented Batista from being able to exercise his World Heavyweight Championship rematch clause.

But with these two athlete’s history, their clash is sure to be personal. Both Orton and Batista were part of one of the most dominant factions in WWE history, Evolution. Since the group’s less than amiable dissolution, however, these two Superstars have been denied the opportunity to face one-on-one. At Armageddon, they’ll be given that opportunity, but with Orton’s checkered past and tendency to bend the rules to their breaking point, will even the ferocity of The Animal be enough to stop him?
